What lasting paint needs

Most peeling starts under the paint

Hot, humid summers and freeze-thaw winters are hard on paint. It lasts as long as the prep under it. Scroll through the layers.

  1. 01

    Clean it first

Dirt, pollen and mildew come off before anything else. Tennessee humidity grows mildew on north walls, and paint put over it lets go early.

  2. 02

    Scrape and fix

Loose and peeling paint is scraped and sanded, cracks and gaps at the trim are sealed, so water can't get in behind the new coat.

  3. 03

    Prime the bare wood

Bare and patched spots get a primer, so the finish grips and the colour comes out even everywhere.

  4. 04

    Even finish coats

The colour goes on edge to edge in even coats, made to take hot, humid summers and freeze-thaw winters.

  5. 05

    Clean lines, clean site

Trim, doors and edges are cut in straight, the site is cleaned up, and you walk round the finished work with us.

Pick a combination

Showing cream and brick red. Real colours look different in daylight on your house, so it's worth trying a sample or two before you decide.

Questions

Common questions

Where we work

  • Nashville, TN
  • Nearby? Ask
Where do you work?

Nashville and the areas around it. If you're nearby and not sure, call or send the form and ask.

What should I send with my request?

A few photos of the rooms or each side of the house, what needs painting, and any colours you have in mind. Photos help us give you a closer price.

Can you help me choose colours?

Yes, we can talk it through when we come and look. Try a few combinations on the porch house on this page to get a feel first.

Why does prep matter so much?

Paint only lasts as long as the surface under it. Dirt, mildew, loose old paint and bare wood all make new paint peel early, especially outside in Tennessee heat and humidity.

Do you do cabinets, drywall patching or decks?

Ask us. Tell us about the job when you send your photos.

Can brick be painted?

Yes, and painted brick is a big look in Nashville. It needs a paint made for masonry and a clean, dry surface. Send a photo and we'll talk about it.
